Certified Fiber Optic Technologist
About CFOT
Certified Fiber Optic Technologist is a structured 5 days training program that consists of in-class lectures and hands-on activities. At the end of the training program the participants will sit for CFOT examination and certificate will be given upon passing the exam. Examination is based on the book FOA Reference Guide to Fiber Optic by Jim Hayes.
Competency assessment shall also be carried out during hands-on session to verify the skills and ability of participants in handling optical equipment and performing test and measurement.
LEARNING OUTCOME
Upon completion of the course, participants shall able to;
- Have good understanding of the basic and principle of optical fiber communication system
- Have good understanding of fiber cable specifications, properties and applications
- Have skills and ability to perform Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) measurement
- Have skills and ability to perform optical fiber coupler characterization
- Have skills and ability to perform optical fiber cable termination to underground enclosure and termination box
CERTIFICATION
At the end of the course, the participants will receive 3 certificates;
- FOA Certificate (issued by Fiber Optic Association, Inc. or FOA and subject to test result)
- Certificate of Competency (jointly issued by SIGtech and Fiber Optic Association of Malaysia (FOAM)
- Certificate of Attendance (issued by SIGtech)
